Hi all and Happy Monday! Maybe this should now be Monday Musings on Mackinaw Road? Last week gave hints of spring followed by slaps in the face of winter. Nonetheless, it had me dreaming Spring Break Dreams.
In case you missed it last year, here were my Top Spring Break Beaches. The list remains the same for 2018, but I would also update it with Carmel-By-The-Sea, which you can read about here.
We are headed south in a month or so. Spring Break leads to the Great Exodus of Michigan. A couple of years ago, we decided that we were too excited to get a good night’s sleep and ended up leaving right when my husband returned home from work… Cut to 9 hours later and us sleeping in a McDonald’s parking lot somewhere in Tennessee. Never again. This year will be planned better (fingers crossed/knock on wood).
On our way home two years ago, we stopped in Lexington, Kentucky, for the night and went on a tour of the horse farms in the morning before driving the final stretch home. This made a HUGE difference and the kids talk about it as much as they talk about the actual spring break destination. I would highly recommend breaking up the trip in Kentucky.
That said, we only road trip once a year and feel that we should explore a new town. We considered Nashville but are thinking that might be more fun as an adult long weekend. We also considered the Mammoth Caves but are nervous that they may be too cold at the beginning of April.
I have narrowed our choices to Asheville (North Carolina), Greenville (South Carolina), Charleston (South Carolina), and Savanah (Georgia). Give me all of your thoughts and recommendations!
Where are you headed for Spring Break 2018? Have you had your trip planned for the last 6 months? Are you currently in the process of planning? Or will you look for the best deals a week before the trip to determine your destination? If you are doing the latter, don’t forget to check out Skyscanner… In my latest email from them, there was a category for “6 Flights under $100″… now I’m second guessing this whole Road Trip thing… Just kidding… Sort of.

Have a wonderful week!

I just returned back home from Laos recently. It was a lovely experience travelling from Vientiane up to Luang Prabang via Vang Vieng, which has absolutely gorgeous natural landscapes.

Having been to none of those places before I’m not much help, but I do like the sounds of Savannah, Georgia. So that’s my vote 🙂
Mackinaw Road
I like the sound of that, too! 🙂 It’s definitely a top contender!

Eh I don’t really get a spring break anymore but I’m in Bali for the month. Don’t really have any suggestions since I’ve never been to any of those places you’ve narrowed it down to haha

Bali for a month sounds delightful!
