Travel Clothes for Kids: Spring Break Edition
Is anyone else mentally packing your bags and heading south? While my travel wardrobe remains quite unchanged, my kids have grown two feet and have to/get to replace their clothing. Here are a few of our favorites for spring travel with our kids:

Boy Must Haves:
Let’s start with the 5-year old. I’m tempted to (and just may) cut off his pants because they all have holes in the knees. That said, these are our favorite “magic” travel shorts because they dry so quickly, and, if you are in the 5-and-under crowd, you just never know when you’re going to fall into a moat (true story), go too far out into the ocean (it happened), or spill a slushie (I can’t remember but this likely occurred as well). Bonus points: they are normally $10.99 but are often on sale for even less!
My 5-year old is all about comfort and quickness (despite the fact that he considers button downs a “must” and won’t wear his joggers unless he is “going jumping”). While I can’t remember the exact shoes he had last summer, I do remember that he was able to quickly slip them off and on. I’m thinking that something like this will be good for this spring.
For the beach, these trunks are California cool and my first choice (we of course also have our shark trunks from last year too 😉
And since he has recently taken a strong stance against the long sleeve SPF shirts, we will be utilizing sunscreen often. Blue Lizard is a favorite of mine because it is dermatologist recommended and the bottle turns blue anytime there are UV rays, which is a fun party trick for the kids, giving this sunscreen the “cool” factor, and reminds me to reapply every so often. (Another bonus: Blue Lizard Australian Baby Sunscreen 30+ made the EWG’s Best Scoring Kids’ Sunscreen Lotions for Kids.)
GIRL MUST HAVES
Last year, we bought a girls’ maxi dress for spring break. It lasted all summer long. The thing with kids is that you never know when they are going to have a growth spurt. With a maxi or midi dress, the dress remains appropriate no matter if they grow half an inch or half a foot. This one is cute and seems fairly reasonably priced.
My daughter lives in her swim team suits in the summer but I love to slip just one non-swim team suit in her drawer and hold my breath 😉 Spring Break is the perfect time to add this to her wardrobe before the team suit comes into play. This swimsuit seems like the perfect compliment (and it has ruffles, which is always a win!)
Flip Flops- love the ease with which they go on, don’t like having an almost-heart attack every time the kids run in them. That said, these flip flops are cute and inexpensive.
Going hand-in-hand (or foot-in-foot?) with the need for shoes that slip on and off quickly (and aren’t flip flops), these shoes seem like a good option and like they would go with almost all outfits (dresses, shorts, pants, etc).
And Stay Tuned… I’m working on a printable kids’ packing list for Spring Break…

Love these suggestions! I’ve never tried those Old Navy Shorts but want to now. Question-do the girls bathing suits run pretty true to size? I have a tall little girl, so it’s become tricky finding one that fits her length!!!

Thanks so much, Stacey! Yes- this will be our 3rd spring break/summer with the Old Navy shorts 😉 We also have quite tall and has a long torsos in our family, I’ve found that Mini Boden runs just a bit larger and works well for our tall girls. Here are some of the choices: http://bit.ly/2Iiezdz . Otherwise, maybe one of the tankini’s from Garnet Hill would be a good option… Thanks so much for reading!

Great suggestions, Marta! You’re spot on, especially with the 5-and-under crowd. Looking forward to that packing list for kids, wherever we go my daughter’s luggage is always larger than ours yet we somehow manage to forget important stuff :)))

Haha- yes! I’ve been there for sure 😉 Happy Friday!!
