Holiday Gifts for Almost Everyone
Holiday Gifts for Almost Everybody
Hi! I almost didn’t get around to holiday gifts guides this year, but then thought, why not just throw it all into one?!? That’s more my speed anyway. But, if you would like more condensed, specific Gift Guides, you can check out this one and this one and this one from years past.

Gifts for Parents/Grandparents:
We bought these for my parents-in-law of their childhood homes last year, and I think they were a hit. A watercolor version like this would be nice too!
Local Art is always a sure thing in my book. James Brandess is a local favorite for sure! You can check out his work here.
Tickets to a show (with their kids/grandkids). We are so, so fortunate to have a fabulous civic theater in town. The talent is incredible and every seat is fantastic.
A photo session for an updated family photo. This is something that will be enjoyed for years to come.
Gifts for the Hostess with the Mostest:
Some of these are more gifts to give a family member who loves to host than actual hostess gifts 😉
Half-Baked Harvest– The perfect entertaining cookbook. This one is on my wish list for week night dinners.
Decanter- Decanters seem like the ultimate “grown up” accessory and I love the classic look of this one. Add some wine glasses and you’re good to go!
Lark Cocktails book- Making cocktails for a crowd? Kate has you covered. And how lovely is the cover?!?
Tea Kettle- Love that this one is muted and distinctive. Perfect for almost any style of kitchen. Maybe particularly our Modern Traditional one… hmmmm….
Coffee maker- The ultimate splurge or group gift for your coffee loving host, this is perfect! We also like this one a lot.
Wine coaster- Save your hostesses’ well thought out table with this unique wine coaster.
Habitat and Down to Earth– Lauren Liess has such wonderful decorating tips that really are “down to earth.” These books are must-buys for gifts (or for yourself).
Candle- I’ve been burning this candle nonstop since before Thanksgiving! If you are local to the Grand Rapids area, stop by The Counting House to pick one up, explore all of the different scents, and discover their custom Great Lakes and Snowflakes.
Throw blanket- Faux Fur is the a great way to feel and actually stay cozy! These have been on sale lately.
Charcuterie Board- Is there such a think as too many bread or charcuterie boards? This one is perfect for the holidays.
Gifts for the Traveler:
Merino Travel Kit– this luxury set will (hopefully) have you sleeping on that next long flight.
Noise canceling headphones- again, great for helping to catch some shut eye while traveling. We don’t have any, but I’m loving the color options here.
Watch– It’s so nice to have an actual watch when on an airplane. I often turn my phone off and put it away, so it would be nice to be able to check the time without digging through my bottomless pit of a purse. This one would be a great group gift for a deserving fellow.
Scarf blanket– Perfect for someone who is always cold (me! me! me!) while traveling and also basically from October-June.
Gifts for the Kids: (Girls, Age 9-ish)
KEVA blocks– When we were at the Boston Children’s Museum, our kids spent an incredible amount of time playing with these wooden blocks. I love that they can use their imagination and build almost anything!
LEGO friends– There is instruction-following, planning, fine motor, and then pretend play all built in to these kits!
American Girl– This is still a hit at our house, and you know what? I’ll take it. Stay young as long as possible please.
Clue is a family favorite for Sunday game night! And of course, Sleeping Queens.
Amazon Book Club– my SIL bought this for our daughter last year. At every age, it is so much fun to receive mail. Every month, she gets two new books to dive into. I ended up reading this one to both kids this summer, and we all enjoyed it!
Gifts for the Kids: (Boys, Age 6-ish)
KEVA blocks- for all of the reasons listed above 😉 Last year, a parent bought our son’s kindergarten class a set… this is a great teacher/classroom gift!
LEGO Star Wars– Our son is into Star Wars as of late. Again, I love these sets for all of the reasons I love LEGO Friends for our daughter.
Beyblades– basically, like spinning tops. But, the kids love them! I’d say they translate to boys of all lower-to-mid elementary school ages. Our son met several new friends on the playground at the beginning of the year having beyblade tournaments and is able to play with neighbor kids who are a bit older with these simple yet mesmerizing toys.
Dinosaur digging is still a huge hit. It never looses it’s luster. I don’t even mind cleaning up the dusty mess because our son loves it so much and it keeps him busy for a good 30-40 minutes.
Monopoly Deal– Our 6-year old loves Monopoly but neither he nor I have the attention span to finish the game. This seem much more manageable.
Gifts for Babies:
We had two new additions this year, and they have made life so much fun! And Christmas— ugh, it’s going to be difficult to limit the gifts!
It is so hard not to purchase all of the baby clothes! These cute products are a must, and Betsie is the best to buy from! She made the cutest little tiger onsies for my niece and nephew this fall. You can check out all of the options and contact her through Lala Land Studio’s Instagram here.
Lovevery– Love, love, love the sound of this gift box subscription set. (You can also buy gifts without the subscription.)
Any Lamaze gifts- this and this and this are some top contenders! The babies will just adore the bright colors and soft materials!
Leg warmers- They don’t get much cuter than this! And it makes it soooo much easier for changing diapers than struggling with tights.
Magnetic snaps sleepers– Oh how I wish these existed/I knew about them when I had babies. Being a sleep deprived parent trying to button sleepers in the dark is no easy feat. These would have been such a time saver! Not to mention, they are just about the cutest little sleepers out there.
I See Me– We have several of these books, and they are the perfect useful keepsakes! You can personalize them with the child’s name to make the book even more interesting and special.
Holiday Gifts: Christmas Books
Speaking of books…. Every Christmas, our children get a new Christmas book. We have gathered quite the collection over the years! Here are a few standouts:
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus
Whew! Okay- I think that is it!! Happy Holidays!
UPDATE: This Sherpa Pullover is ah-mazing!!! I have it in Green, have only worn it once, and have already received compliments. I got my usual size but sort of wished I had sized up. However, it was just soooo warm and cozy that I kept it on. If (when) I get additional colors, I’ll likely get a medium. It would make a great last minute gift.
Also, this machine is intriguing. It is a Keurig for adult beverages. My SIL loves to entertain, so my other SIL gave her this for a Christmas present. What a unique gift for those who love a fun get together!
Speaking of gatherings, we gave the same SIL this book. The photos are lovely and it is full of vegetarian recipes to feed a crowd.
Last one, I promise! I love a gift that gives back. The York Project was founded back in 2012 in Detroit, Michigan. For every product purchased, the York Project makes a Donation Kit to provide to those who are homeless. If you are local to the Grand Rapids area, The Counting House has several products in the store, including the perfect hats to gift.
