Friday Finds on Mackinaw Road: Give Me Five
Hi and Happy New Year! It’s been awhile since there has been a Friday Finds on Mackinaw Road. I thought it would be fun to bring it back (albeit a couple of days early given that the days are all confused this holiday season anyway) but with a little twist. Don’t worry, though, it will still be as random as ever. Just a bit more of a structured randomness- haha! I’m going to try to cover five finds every Friday and hopefully it will only take about five minutes of your time. In this five, there should be a little bit of home, travel, art, gifts, and clothes. Sooo…. here we go!

HOME: Well, it’s been about a year of pure indecisiveness with me and wallpaper. This week I finally pulled the trigger! I was in Schuil Coffee and was instantly drawn to the wallpaper (and the chairs …. we have similar ones in the Beach Cabin kitchen!). I may be mistaken, but I think it is this wallpaper from Serena & Lily. A good friend just put the grey version in her entry way and I’ve already hinted that I want to share pictures here when she is finished. It looks sooo good!
I am loving this wallpaper for the front entry of our 1920’s colonial home. It seems like a good gateway into the world of wallpaper with the subtle design and color. It’s like texture for the walls… except it’s smooth… Let me rephrase that, it adds interest without making too much of a statement. (Baby steps.) I just picked some up during the winter sale! (I’m also loving this for the Beach Cabin attic- but first things first.)

TRAVEL: The beginning of December was tough in Michigan with almost no sun for days on end. Naturally, that had us dreaming of a warm getaway sometime in the next month or two. Just a quick 4-day trip so it can’t be too far. We’d like to stay within the continental US for this one. We’re likely looking at Florida and I think that this rental home by Kate Marker Interiors would be just right.
ART: I still am loving the ski print on our mantel. You know, the one that I had personally painted of R and the kids on the ski lift? Just kidding. I should have let R think that was case for longer than I did (and more brownie points)- oh well! In reality, I found this perfect print here. You can purchase it with the frame of your choice or opt for the print only. I just picked up a fairly inexpensive frame at Michael’s, took the plexiglass or whatever it was out, and am thoroughly enjoying the matte look.
GIFTS: I love this idea! It isn’t mine, though. My sister-in-law discovered it. It is called BloomsyBox and every month (or you can opt for each week) a bouquet of flowers is delivered to the recipient’s door. It really is such a fun gift! Who wouldn’t love flowers delivered to her door? Especially during these loooong winter months. Can you tell how much I’m looking forward to January and February?
CLOTHES: My daughter has been loving this quarter-zip sherpa. The color options are super cute. (She has Maroon Jive, but Sea Salt looks really cute too.) It is warm and washes easily. It seems like it is the perfect mother-daughter companion to this sherpa pullover that I’m still loving.
And that’s it! Have a wonderful weekend!!!
