Friday Finds on Mackinaw Road: Andre, the Enneagram, and a Pink Fridge

Hi and Happy Friday! Welcome to a place where we talk about all of the discoveries of the week. This week we will once again be covering five topics in short form. This week includes mention of the enneagram, a cute llama, turquoise water, a plant that makes me look good, and some delicious lasagna!

I’m so excited about the Art category this week. I adore art and would love to have more of it our home. And there are just so many wonderful local artists. So, for this topic, I’d love to introduce some of my favorites/most coveted pieces of art during the Friday Finds on Mackinaw Road series. I also think that it is just wonderful to discover new artists while traveling, so as I come across those, I’ll share them here too. I’d love to hear all about your art finds!

Paradise Island | The Bahamas
Paradise Island | The Bahamas

This week, I continue to dream about warmer weather (this will be a theme until June – just kidding – sort of). I have followed Coral House Harbour Island on Instagram for years now. This vacation rental covers two of my favorite things. The house itself is a design lover’s dream with its light and airy feel. In fact, it was included in my round up of fun refrigerators a couple of years ago with the inspiration retro fridge- their fridge is even more fun than the Beach Cabin fridge in its pastel pink. The other definite draw to Coral House is that it is located in one of my favorite groups of islands … The Bahamas! I could go on and on and on about the Bahamas (I sort of do in this post and this post and this post). And while we are pretty in love with Paradise Island, Harbour Island seems like a sure thing with its lovely beaches, its adorable accommodation options, and sunshine more often than not. You can look to see if Coral House is available and rent it here

If you’re grounded for winter, sometimes adding plants helps a bit. I don’t really have a green thumb. At all. But, the ZZ plant makes me look like a real gardener! Even better, it moves easily from room to room without throwing a fit. (I’m looking at you, weeping fig.) Not only does it maintain its appearance without much help, but it actually grows without much (or any) prompting. I bought mine at a local greenhouse, but you could even order one here and stay cozy in your home. Here is a list of more hardy plants.

The Road Back to You wasn’t on the schedule until the end of the month, but I keep talking about the enneagram with friends/anyone who acts semi-interested and thought it was time to share it here too. Admittedly, I have been listening to the book on repeat since November. While some may describe the enneagram as trendy (it’s been around for at least 2000 years) or as a personality test, it is so much more than that in my opinion. As a whole, since learning about the enneagram, I feel much more kind, understanding, and forgiving to myself and others. This book is next on my list. I think I’ll need to purchase the paper version though because I see a lot of highlighting in my future ;).

Winter Decorations | Amy Carroll Photography | The Counting House

Sometimes, you need something that just makes you smile. Amy Carroll’s photography does that for me. I mean, just look at Andre. How could you not love that confidence and profile?

Annie and Athena on the back wall are pretty cute too! And Le Creme Cheval is so pretty! You can check them out and more at The Counting House, which will forever be on my favorites list.

Winter Dinners | Shauna Niequist | Savor

Another thing that makes me smile but in a different way is Shauna Niequist’s lasagna. I think I have one of the earlier versions that a sweet friend shared with me. But, this version isn’t that different. It is just the right amount of the familiar comfort food that we all love combined with surprises that give the dish a little kick. And there are so many veggies that sneak into the dish that you can feel good about it too. You can find the recipe in this book

Have the best weekend!
