Favorite Blue and Green Paint Colors
Hi! I’m back this week with Favorite Blue and Green Paint colors. Last week we were talking all about tried-and-true White Paint colors. (If you missed it, just click here.) This week is all about blues and greens. Pantone came out recently with their color pick for 2020- it is Classic Blue. And while this list doesn’t contain Classic Blue per se, it does contain blues and greens that are classic in style and quite possibly will stand the test of time.
As with all paint colors, you should try samples on your walls to ensure that they look how you want them to in your space. Below are just my experiences and opinions.
Benjamin Moore Philipsburg Blue
If you read this post, you know that Philipsburg Blue is not only a favorite paint color, but also Philipsburg, Montana itself will always be meaningful. Part of the Historic Collection by Benjamin Moore, it seems like the perfect color for our early 1900s homes. We had it in our old house, our current house, and also at the Beach Cabin. It is a calming blue without being too masculine or too feminine. It is a perfect color for our cabinets at the Beach Cabin. I am also considering painting one of the main floor bedrooms in this color (or a slight variation, with a tad more green in it)… More on that this spring 😉
Benjamin Moore Westcott Navy
Again, if you’ve been with me for a while now, you know how I love Westcott Navy. We have it in our home office, the basement laundry/mudroom, and even on the floors at the Beach Cabin. This deep charcoal navy is definitely on the favorite list. I think that it works well for creating the moody office with brass accents. It can also lean beachy with wicker or rattan accents as it does at the Beach Cabin.
Benjamin Moore Hale Navy
This list wouldn’t be complete without Benjamin Moore Hale Navy. Probably the most popular and versatile navy, I’ve seen it in almost every type of room. I love it in this beautiful and classic bathroom. It is perfect with the traditional coastal feel of this room.
Benjamin Moore Salamander Green
Wanting to try green, I started with the Beach Cabin’s lower level bathroom and haven’t been able to quit Green since. I adore Salamander Green! Again, my eye catches that slightly charcoal finish that I love. Salamander Green even helped to elevate the vanity in the bathroom. For a before and after of this room, click here.
I also love how Salamander Green looks on the console table from the One Room Challenge this past fall. (For our tips for painting furniture/things to consider, click here). This is a color that I believe can add a level of sophistication to both walls and furniture.
Farrow & Ball Studio Green
Just when I thought I’d found my favorite green, along came Farrow & Ball’s Studio Green. This color is ah-mazing! I love how it changes throughout the day. And through each change, I continue to love it! It seems to be a classic green, a gray green, even sometimes a bit of a blue green. At times, I think about how crisp it is and at other times I love the duskiness of it. It is not straightforward and yet I’m on board with every turn it takes. Yeah- I kinda sorta like it.
Benjamin Moore Nantucket Gray
Okay, I guess Benjamin Moore has this more in the gray category but I really see green in it so I’m including it in the line up! I didn’t choose this color but absolutely fell in love with it this past spring! As part of the One Room Challenge Spring 2019, I redid our Beach Cabin porch. You can see more before and after photos here. Nantucket Gray was already on the walls, so I simply grabbed the leftover paint can from the owner’s closet and painted the trim. I love the subtle and calming green gray for the cabin porch. It seems to me as though it would be a perfect color to try almost anywhere, lending itself to both a sun-filled room or a more moody canvas.
There you have it! My favorite Blue and Green Paint Colors.
