Simple Spring Kitchen for Staying Home
Hi there! I hope that your week is going well!! We were supposed to be headed out on Spring Break this week, but are staying home and hoping to help to flatten the curve. This simple spring kitchen makes me so content to stay put. That and the fact that I get a break from playing homeschool teacher. Yay!!!
This kitchen has been working hard these days. Fortunately, we love it so much that we don’t mind spending the majority of the day in this space at all. I won’t share the mess that was behind me when I took these photos, but I do love this clean look that gives the illusion that we’ve actually been maintaining a picked up house- lol! Even if it’s just a corner, I’ll take it!! (If you want to see the view of the kitchen toward the eat-in area, you can click here to see it in the Christmas Kitchen post. I will spare you the view of it now … covered in math sheets, laptops, and lego characters scattered about. Thank goodness the slime is finally phasing out!)
But back to this dreamy little corner… I love how the velvet basket and olive tree soften the various ceramics on the shelving and marble countertops.
A simple vase with some eucalyptus stems is all that is needed for this simple spring entryway. They were so inexpensive and have lasted forever! Oh how I wish that the milk door still worked… If we ever sell this house, I might have to have the new owners sign a contract that they will not ever remodel it away.
Coffee has always been a necessity in our household. We’ve been trying to buy local brands to support our small businesses. So far, our favorites are this and this from our local grocery store.
We store our coffee and tea right next to the coffee maker for easy access for ourselves (and hopefully someday soon for our guests too). R is still enjoying the coffee maker from all of our family for his birthday (I am too!).
All of our favorites on one shelf- eggs (the recipes in the book look sooooo good!), honey (we have yogurt with honey almost every morning) and salt (a favorite of mine! What would popcorn/ broccoli/ etc be without salt?!?) … The olive tree coordinating with the olive boards… I shouldn’t love styled shelves this much. But it’s the little things, right?
We’ve been using our dutch oven a lot lately. It’s nice because whatever dish we make in it is almost always a one-pot dinner. Less dishes to scrub is a treat in and of itself.
I love this tea cup and it’s little holder for the tea bag- what a clever idea! As I mentioned in this post, the cup is a great gift to give anyone on the frontlines of this crazy pandemic as a very small thank you. It also makes a good gift for those having difficulty with anxiety or even just an “I’m Thinking About You” gift.
Stay Healthy Everyone!
