Mackinaw Road Monday: Fan Favorites

Fall Apple Orchard

Hi there! Get ready for some truly random musings on this Monday morning (as well as some not-so-great iphone pics). This includes my attempted mirror selfies prior to our family photo session, our 1920’s bathroom plans, apple pie, a favorite podcast and book purchase, a preordered book, and (actually semi-related) things I have my eye on from a recent collaboration launch between two favorites. So, to tie it all together maybe this week we will just call the random list: Fan Favorites.

Let’s start with our family photo session. I’m a definite fan of my lovely friend and her beautiful photography. She came over to do our annual photo shoot for our Christmas cards last week. Thank goodness she is good with kids and super patient with all 4 of us! Here is my unprofessional iphone snap, complete with a peace sign and curious boxer baby.

And another one with a search through the junk drawer. Just one of the many, many reasons I will never be a fashion blogger. Anyway, you can find the ivory skirt here and the moss top here. I’m a fan of both. Oh, and a shirt similar to my husband’s shirt here. (I couldn’t find the exact one.) He is rarely a fan of me shopping for him, but I hit it out of the park on this one. And the outfit attached to the peace sign here and here; and her cutest headband here. Maybe I’ll share some of the professional photos as the holiday season gets closer.

We are (hopefully) going to refresh our master bathroom in 2021. I’m a fan of it’s 1920’s charm but not a fan of the cracking and difficult-to-clean shower tile and lack of storage. It is a small space, so it will likely not be a huge change. I’m excited nonetheless! Here’s to hoping we can keep our 1920’s basketweave floors and the green transition detail. I’ll be searching for shower tile to coordinate with the basketweave and white square tiles already in there. This tile from Fireclay is a top contender. Of course, the tiles we used in our kitchen are a sure thing in my mind as well! You can check out the kitchen here and the tile here.

1920s Bathroom

I ordered this book to help with my indecision regarding what to keep and what to get rid of in the bathroom. I think it will be useful in the rest of our home too. The book was mentioned by icon Kelly Wearstler on Domino’s Design Time podcast (another favorite!), so I feel that it must be good!

I also just pre-ordered this book by one of my favorite designers and cannot wait for it to come in November. I have been a huge fan forever and love her laid back and cool California designs. Last week, she also announced her collaboration with Anthropologie. There are so many beautiful items. I specifically have my eye on this knit throw (perfect year round but especially in the fall), these tumblers (in smoke… or clear… or amber…), and this lamp.

We still haven’t made it apple picking this season. But, I picked up some beautiful apples at the end of last week and hope to bake our family’s favorite apple pie in the next few days. I’m not a huge fan of pies (except of course key lime!), but this one is so good and the citrus gives it a refreshing and light quality that I love. I’ve been a fan of Ina Garten for years and haven’t yet met a recipe of hers that I don’t like. Pie included.

That’s all for now! Hope you have a great week!!!
