Entryway Wallpaper : Serena and Lily Wallpaper
With fall in full swing and the kids back in school (fingers crossed, fingers crossed), now seems like a great time to attempt to start posting regularly again. We recently updated our Entryway Wallpaper. Actually, we never had wallpaper in this entry. We inherited beautiful entryway wallpaper in our old 1926 home… It was a lovely terra-cotta grasscloth of which I somehow have zero photos… it received so many compliments! While we went a different direction with the style of entryway wallpaper in this colonial home, we are hoping that it has the same welcoming vibe as guests (someday) enter our house.

As I do, this was a simple project that was over a year in the making. I ordered the Serena and Lily wallpaper last spring (I think? Maybe even two springs ago?) when it was on sale. Of course, I considered about 101 different options, ordered samples, conducted an Instagram poll, and then ended up with something completely different. I am so happy that I ultimately chose the smaller print. I was worried that the larger prints would compete too much with the area rugs (all with larger prints) in the living room, dining room, and kitchen nook. As became apparent, the smaller print also ended up being perfect for hiding the texture on the plaster walls. It seems like a little texture on plaster walls may be somewhat unavoidable.
Anyway, by that time, we had a water leak in the entry, requiring new piping, holes in both the entry and our master bedroom, plaster repair, etc. etc. I wanted to make sure that it was completely fixed with no more leaks prior to putting up the wallpaper. The joys of old house living. By that time, it was cold outside, and it was recommended to wait until the weather was warmer to assure proper adhesion to the walls in our drafty little entryway. Then COVID-19 occurred and everything stopped.
This past month, the entryway wallpaper finally happened! My sweet friend came over and helped me prep the space. Then, her mom came over and worked her magic. She did an AMAZING job! To prep, we made sure there were minimal bumps by sanding anything that felt rough to the touch. We also popped out some anchors, filled the holes with this spackling (I love that it starts out pink and turns white when dry!), and sanded some more. Then, I brushed on some of this clear wall size. It barely looks like anything has happened, but I’m told (and believe!) that it really helps with the wallpapering process.
I am thrilled with the result! It is incredibly subtle and soft. I think it could transition from coastal to traditional, depending on the accents added. It will be fun to style for the different times of year too. Throwing a seasonal blanket and faux branches into the space will make for easy transitions. For now, I kept our baskets and moved the woven mirror from the dining room into the entryway.
Of course, because I dragged my feet with this project, the Serena and Lily Linden wallpaper in Fog is no longer available. It is, however, on sale in Navy. If you are looking for a smaller print and more color options in wallpaper from Serena and Lily, I also like this and this. And stop back sometime soon for an entryway update. We had enough leftover wallpaper that my friend’s mom is coming back! TO WALLPAPER THE CEILING!!! Eeeekk- I’m sooo excited!
I hope you are having a wonderful autumn season! Now that it is fall and our family is on a schedule again, I am hoping to post more regularly and include some fun collaboration posts on a bathroom inspired by the Detroit Foundation Hotel and another Serena and Lily wallpapered entryway.
Have a great week!
