Argyle Sweaters, Family Winter Activities, and More
Hi there and Happy Thursday! Get ready for some randomness, including some family winter activities we have been (mostly) enjoying, a round up of argyle sweaters (just in time for the incoming polar vortex), a favorite winter recipe (and some meal planning), and wall frames (with the perfect oversized mat).
Family Winter Activities
It has been sooo wintery here in Michigan lately, but we’ve really been trying to get outside as much as possible. We went cross country skiing this past weekend, and it was so pretty and a great way to get outside as a family. (We did have a few “take aways” for next time. Naturally.) Our daughter is using my mom’s old skis and I have some from a few birthdays back. R and N went to a resale sports shop and purchased some. I love that this is a quick car ride and hop out to ski sort of activity.

We have also been sledding more than usual. It has been fun to try out different hills around town. My SIL bought the kids a couple of these blow up tubes for sledding. How adorable are they? The Counting House also has the most stylish snow tubes. Dare I say that these would make a super fun Valentine’s Day gift/activity idea?!?! They would.
Winter Meals
After being outside, we have been either making our own hot cocoa (this mix is our favorite!) or just driving through for an even quicker option (although our kids tend to get frozen drinks- BRRRR! – if we do that).
I also made a version of the lasagna in this book after skiing and it was (as always) a huge hit! This makes me so happy because I have some picky eaters on my hands. The lasagna has a ton of veggies in it, which makes me feel like I’m providing a super nutritious meal.
Speaking of winter recipes, I pulled out this cookbook as I attempted to be better at meal planning this week. It has so many great recipes and allows for “basic to brilliance” recipes. And the photos in the book are just gorgeous! We had the chicken corn chowder, margherita pizza, and kale frittata. I even made my own chicken stock for the first time as part of the chicken corn chowder recipe.
Argyle Sweaters
I’m seeing so many fun spring outfits out there! It is making me long for spring. Here in Michigan, though, that often doesn’t roll around until late April/early May. I was going to put together a little round up of pieces that could transition easily from winter to spring but then found out there is a polar vortex on the way. Soooo, here is a round up of argyle sweaters instead- haha! My mom recently gave me an argyle sweater that she purchased last year. I couldn’t find the exact match, but I think that this one and this one give off similar vibes. I love these soft colors for this February outfit. These boots and these are similar to my super old booties. And, again, it’s been quite awhile since I purchased the pants, but these are similar. So are these. I’ve linked all of the items just mentioned plus some other argyle sweater and pant options in the clickable product photos below:
Wall Frames
One last week update… We hung up our gallery/grid wall! I can’t wait to share it once I get all of the scuffs cleaned up. I purchased these 25 x 25 frames with oversized mats and love them! They were an investment but I got them on sale and didn’t have to mess with having mats made since these were exactly what I was picturing.
Thank You for Reading and Have a Wonderful Weekend!
