A Round Up of Outdoor Planters
Hi and Happy Thursday! Michigan spoiled us with warmer temperatures last weekend, which made for beautiful patio entertaining. Spring, summer, and fall on the patio is definitely something to look forward to! Our patio is slowly coming together and I’ve been adding outdoor planters to all of my carts.
It is tempting to wait until the patio is perfectly put together with huge blue hydrangeas (fingers crossed) in the background, but it seems like now is the time to purchase outdoor planters (at least that’s what all my promotion emails are telling me- haha!) so keep scrolling for our imperfect patio and a round up of potential outdoor planters.

Side Notes
Side note 1: I was shopping at Home Goods last week and found the lovely planter pictured for about $25. Since I am going for more of a collected look, I figured I might as well start with this cement planter. I had planned to paint it black, but the gray is growing on me.
Side note 2: I spray painted our adirondack chairs in a satin black to try to squeeze at least one more year out of them. (You can view them in their previous states in this post.) I used a new “comfort” attachment for the spray painting can. And, I have to say, it really did make the painting better and, well, more comfortable.
Outdoor Planters
On to the planters… I debated how to list the planters. The pricing varies based on the sizing. In many cases, there are a few colors and/or a couple of sizes and shapes to choose from. (I did try to keep it to black, white, gray, and a terra cotta color since that is the color palette I’ve decided on for our patio.)
I am mostly looking for large-to-extra large containers for the ground. For now, we have a simple fern in the planter from Home Goods. But, I’m picturing adding hydrangeas and some vines to them this summer. This provides two options for the fall. I could leave the hydrangeas in the pots through winter (in the garage) and then the following spring, when brought back outside, the hydrangeas should just rebloom in the pots, which will make for a very easy spring 2022 patio. Or…. I could plant annuals in them and then in the fall, bring the planters inside and transfer some indoor plants into them. They are all definitely pretty enough to be brought in the house.
Anyway, below is the outdoor planter round up…

Here is a list of the products (or similar) currently on our patio. Because we tend to collect things over time, some weren’t available when I went to look, so I tried to find products similar to the originals.
Outdoor Rug (similar)- our rug is a terra cotta color to coordinate with the brick but I also really like the black border that I linked here.
Vase (similar)
Adirondack- We have this one (now painted black) and another from a local garage sale site (that we also painted black). These chairs have the same classic look but are already painted black.
Sofa (similar)

Okay- I think that is all of it! Have a great rest of the week!
