Mackinaw Road: August Updates
Hi! Keep reading for some August Updates… (I can’t believe it’s already September!)
I hope your August went well! It flew by for us, and I’m hoping to share some autumn styling soon. Until then, we will be soaking up all that summer has to offer! We spent the entire summer in Michigan and I’m not even a little bit mad about it. This is what we wait all year for and I am incredibly happy to stay put. That said, we are excited to be heading out East in September and I hope to finally be able to write another travel post for that.

August Updates #1: Sofa
We bought a new sofa! Again. R is six feet tall and the sectional we had just wasn’t deep enough for him. So, we sold the sectional that I loved (I also love the new one). I learned how to drive a Home Depot Moving Box Truck (which was the best deal I could find for the move-it-yourself situation that I was in), drove across the state solo, and brought home the new sofa that I snagged with R’s sister at the Arhaus outlet. I think it’s going to be perfect for cozy fall days and hunkering down through the Michigan winter. More photos coming soon.
August Updates #2: Paint
The beach cabin is still on the docket to get painted either this fall or early next summer. You may remember from this post that we were thinking about painting it a dark color. Well, give us the opportunity, and we will change our minds 100 times. Ha! We are now considering a creamy white. Above are some of the top white paint colors from which we are choosing. The deck was recently stained. It took a minute for my eyes to adjust to the brighter color. It might coordinate okay with a darker color but could also remind us of our college colors. We love our alma mater but decide to show our spirit in ways other than house color-deck combinations.

August Updates #4: Back to School
We typically purchase a few back to school clothing items prior to school beginning, but most of the time, the kids are able to wear their summer clothes for at least a month into the new school year. Below are some items purchased and some that are currently in the cart for our tween. I also try to remember to buy swimsuits while they are on sale for spring break and the following summer.
August Updates #5: Toddler Gifts
Our favorite twins turned 2 this month! I took the opportunity to make a little list of possible gifts for toddlers. You’ll want to check the age recommendations on the toys prior to purchasing. Some are for 3+.
August Updates #6: Weekend
Have a wonderful long weekend! The print below has several layers of significance for us (especially R), but I’ll save that story for another time.
