Cozy Fall Living Room
It is officially fall! While I’m sad to see summer come to an end, it has been fun to slowly change and rearrange the living room space to create our Fall Living Room 2021.

You may remember that I drove across the state in a rented truck to pick up this massive sofa. I was unsure about it’s sheer size, and we definitely have guests (and homeowners- me!) that will appreciate a stack of throw pillows behind them while sitting on it. That said, I love it! It is so comfortable and perfect for lounging with R and for family movie night with the kids. It was 100% worth the effort to get it into our living room!
With the addition of the buttery, warm, and super cozy sectional, minimal accessories for autumn decorating were needed. I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to keep the pillows from our previous sectional. (You can check out that sectional with the pillows here.) We added a throw blanket that we’ve had for years to break up the long stretch of the sofa.
We are slowly bringing things back home from the Beach Cabin for the fall, and the wooden tray was one of those must-bring-home items. Paired with the Italian Fig candle, a round black vase, and a favorite design book, I’m calling it complete.
The fireplace wall shelves only required a quick sweep and switch around. I took what felt like quite a bit off of the shelves. For some reason, in this instance, minimalism was difficult for me and took longer than it should have. Having restraint during holiday decorating is hard.
The mantel, however, was fun and easy. I moved the pampas grass and vase from our entryway. (You can see that from last fall here.) The glass blown taper holders and tapers also moved back to the mantel as did the Indian block print.
Maybe you glimpsed the freshly hung black frames in the mirror… It only took a day to move those up 5 inches and get them straight. It’s fine. In all seriousness, though, I think that it was worth it not only because they aren’t overlapping the top of the sectional but also because they are now better reflected in the mirror. So much awkwardness taken care of with that one move.
Next up for the Living Room (aside from Christmas in December)…. window treatments. I’m still deciding about the window treatments for the four windows with blinds. Options include keeping the blinds, faux Roman shades, or continuing the curtains on all of the windows. I would love to eventually switch out the chairs as well. I am leaning toward a pair rounded boucle or cream- colored chairs.

Marta,
I am in love with your sectional! From where did you purchase it? It was definitely worth the truck rental and drive!!
