November Updates: Cozy Clothes

A quick change of the weather had me heading to my closet/the stores for warmer clothes and longer jeans. I am happy to report that I am super happy with all of the below purchases.

I love the simple color and texture on this sweater.

This is a fun sweater that can translate from fall well through winter.

I didn’t mean to buy this sweater, but I tried it on in the store and it was incredibly soft and cozy. So, when a sale came around…

The jean forecast and trends feel like they change fast. I don’t even know what is in anymore. I am loving these jeans for winter, though, trend or no trend.

Book of the Month

I chose Wilder Women from the Book of the Month Club and then also added on The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo since it had been a BOTM Club winner a few years ago. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo was a page turner and a quick read. About a quarter of the way through Wilder Women, I was already anticipating missing the characters when I finished the book. It is a wonderful read!

Recipes I’m Loving

I made this soup in November and it is so good! Filling, warm, and refreshing all in one. It’s a winner-winner-not-chicken-dinner.

This quiche has long been a staple in our family. It is a great way to get my kids to eat some greens! The recipe is very forgiving. Sometimes I use onion, other times garlic- rarely both as the recipe calls for. I omit the mushrooms and often use a regular feta block cut into squares. It makes a great week night meal!

I brought this batch cocktail to a family gathering. It was a hit! The (easy) homemade pumpkin syrup makes it feel special, and I am a fan of almost anything that involves ginger beer.

Transitional Decor Items

… as in, items that can transition from fall to winter. The beautiful hobnail tapers from The Counting House were perfect for transitioning from Halloween back to fall. I actually think I will add a couple evergreen or olive tapers and keep them out all through winter.

Simple and Minimal Fall Mantel

Winter is Old Fashioned season. (Who am I kidding…I never pass up an Old Fashioned no matter the season- lol.) These cocktail glasses are perfect for the cozy drink. The smoke glasses were lovely in our Thanksgiving dining room. Again, with a change of table top decor, they will still go well through winter.

November Updates: Thanksgiving Table

Speaking of Thanksgiving, here several shots of our Thanksgiving table and dining room from last week.

Winter Art

Traditional Christmas Trees and Ski PrintThe ski lift print is an absolute favorite at winter time. We also have an old Georgetown photo from my parents in our dining room during the snowy months. Here are a few other winter prints I have my eye on.

Ribbon Round Up

I added velvet ribbon from some local shops to our Christmas tree in the dining room and our banister going upstairs this year! I also ordered ribbon for gift wrapping and for our wreath from various places. I’ve linked the ribbon that I bought below. So far, I am happy with all of it. (Warning: the “rust” that looks like red is actually red.I thought it might have been my computer screen but when it came, it still definitely looked like red to me!).

Here is a board of my Christmas color goals for this year. We will see if they comes to fruition.
