Fall Closet Staples
I recently read The Kingdom of Prep: The Rise and (Almost) Fall of J. Crew. Having been a J. Crew/ rollneck sweater fan since high school, this book was super interesting. Even if you aren’t a J. Crew enthusiast, there is so much fashion culture history that this book is still a must read. Speaking of clothing, this post is dedicated to just that. While summer will always have my heart, I do appreciate the coziness that fall brings. Read on for tried and true (and some wishlist items) fall closet staples that I am looking forward to bringing back out this autumn.

It goes without saying that autumn signals a time for all things cozy. Nothing in my wardrobe is cozier (or worn more often year round) than my joggers and sweatshirt. I love them! While they are on the more expensive side, my price-per-wear has to be pennies at this point.
I have been receiving targeted ads for Quince for what feels like forever. Finally biting the bullet, I ordered this crew sweater and am super happy with its look and quality. This dress is very tempting and could still be worn through September and into October with a cardigan. I also love the look of this organic cotton blazer– there are several color choices too.
A few layering long sleeve t-shirts are always a good idea. I have this one in both white and black.
These wide leg jeans are soft and stretchy and I see a lot of use in their future. You should be able to receive a 10% discount on the jeans (and almost everything store wide) with the code MACKINAWROAD10 at checkout.
This downtown field jacket is a splurge but I have gotten so much use out of mine (old version). I’ve worn it apple picking and to a broadway show. It is versatile. As fall progresses (but hopefully not too quickly), I will be bringing my favorite city coat (similar linked below) to the dry cleaners in preparation for colder temps.
I have a similar chambray shirt and for some reason it just feels very pumpkin-patch fall to me.
Officially a Sorel admirer, I am excited to get out these pull-on booties from last year. I recommended this pair for a friend and may just needs a pair for myself. And, of course, this is a tried and true pair that I will be wearing again when the snow flakes start to fly.

We spent a lot of time walking on a recent trip to New York City. I wore these sneakers every day and plan to wear them well into the autumn season.
My mules have lasted for several years but have seen better days. This pair is a top contender for a replacement pair.
