Home Upgrades Past and Future
Hi and Happy New Year! I think that maybe I skipped this post last year, but I’m back in 2025 with a list of Projects Past and Yet To Come. So, let’s get started! Here are the projects we completed in 2024… maybe they don’t all warrant the title “project” but they were home upgrades that were notable at the very least.

2024 Upgrades
The beach cabin got a few upgrades in 2024. The driveway was updated with beautiful pavers instead of the pea gravel. The only downside is that now I can’t hear when guests arrive. (I don’t have any photos at the ready, so you will just have to take my word that it looks really, really good!)
The beach cabin patio also got an upgrade with some lovely extra large planters! Per usual, we had the plan all laid out but the execution of the plan was a bit loose. Nonetheless, we got it done (with a side of sweat and tears).
Our daughter got a new bed at our Modern Colonial. I was shocked at how lovely it smelled out of the box. An odd but pleasant surprise. We will be updating the rest of her room in 2025 and I will share that when it is completed. A slow roll is very typical for us.
My parents gave us their old armchairs for the living room. I love how light and bright they make the room feel!
We updated our Modern Colonial patio with a lovely outdoor sofa. The space instantly feels more sophisticated to me.
Our dining room chairs were upgraded. It not only changed the look of the room for the better but the chairs are so much more comfortable for chatting during and after dinners.
The stair runner was replaced and this makes me so happy. It is the first thing that guests see when they come through the front door and now fits so well with the rest of our house.
Our big upgrade was tiling the kids bathroom and updating the shower fixtures. Adding some pretty things to the small space was fun too. Again, this feels like it fits perfectly in our home and like it has been just so all along.
2025 Upgrade Wish List
Overall, I am just so pleased and content with our Modern Colonial and Beach Cabin. It is nice to feel settled and not feel like there are 5001 things to do.
We are considering ways to update our basement. We have rearranged furniture to make space for a ping pong table and unique bocce/soccer game that R found on marketplace. We may change out the carpet and/or paint but I’m not super motivated so we will see. As you may know from this post, our family now skis (50% of us ski A LOT). As such, R has cleared out the paint can storage to make space for a ski room under the stairs. I’ll share it all when he is done but so far so cute.
We had our hearts set on matte paint when we first did our cabinets despite being told from multiple sources that it wasn’t the best idea. Guess what? It wasn’t the best idea. Live and learn. S0, the cabinets will be getting a fresh coat of paint, likely the same green (read allllll about that here) but now I’m also tempted by this brown-green colour 😉 Decisions, decisions.
As mentioned above, finishing touches will be incorporated into our daughter’s room and then I will share that.
Something that has been on my list forever is updating our primary bathroom. Could 2025 be the year?! I hope so!
Here we go~
I think that is it! I know that it isn’t a huge 2025 list, but as you know, project creep happens so stick with me as I’m sure more will be added to the list. We have some fun travel plans in 2025 too so gathering travel-inspired designs may be more of the focus this year 😉 We will see.
