Ski Room Storage - Mackinaw Road

Hi there! While I slowly chipped away at our daughter’s room and seasonally switched out our house furnishings, Raj was busy transforming one of the last untouched spaces in our house. And I have to say, I completely approve of both the use of the space (we had a lot of unnecessary things that were purged) as well as his kitschy ski decor (Is there really any other way to do it?!). Read on for all the details of our Ski Storage Room.

THE BEFORE

Okay, the before was really bad. We had a lot of old paint cans, DIY things, and miscellaneous items that needed to go. Truthfully, these are only sort of “before” photos.

After removing all of the aforementioned junk, Raj took down the shelving and added some wall treatments to the space, creating subtle visual interest.

THE BASICS

After rolling the Kilz primer, he used our paint sprayer to apply a couple of coats of Behr Paint (color: Polar Bear).

He then installed Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring and trim. Raj reported that it was super easy to link the planks together as well as to score with a hand saw and then snap for specific spaces.

THE ORGANIZATION

Raj bought benches for the ski boots (and our overflow of winter boots) and helmets. A cute accordion wall hanger holds hats, goggles, ski poles, etc. I love that the skis can hang so nicely using the ski wall rack.

THE FINAL TOUCHES

Raj put some final touches on the space with a sign that he had purchased the previous weekend on a ski trip with our son as well as several signs that he ordered online. (I love the SKI TIPS UP sign the most because it reminds me of that nervousness of the chair lift exit-ing that I think I will always have.) And a vintage-inspired print of a local mountain finished off the space!
