A Simple Salad with Avocado
A Simple Salad that is just that… SIMPLE! It can be made in about five minutes and requires only 8 ingredients, most of which are likely sitting in your kitchen as you read this. This salad is light and compliments almost any dinner but can stand on its own, too.

A Red and Blue Christmas Table and A Christmas Dinner Menu
Happy Holidays! I can’t believe that Christmas is already here. I thought I’d just quickly share our Christmas Dinner Menu & Red and Blue Christmas Table plans. It’s a little traditional, a little coastal, a little Scandinavian-inspired… you get the idea… as usual… just making throwing-in-everything-I’m-drawn-to and creating my made-up style 😉

The Beach Cabin Cucumber Fizz
Good morning/afternoon/summertime!!! I hope that you all had a great week! We are excited to celebrate the Fourth next week, to watch the fireworks from the Beach Cabin, and perhaps celebrate with our neighbors, family, and friends. The Beach Cabin Cucumber Fizz may even make an appearance! Living Lark Cocktails Back in May, my friend Kate from Living Lark graciously agreed to create a signature drink for our guests at the Beach Cabin this summer! So, one gray and cold Monday (as we do in Michigan), we got together at the Beach Cabin and she brought all of my favorite flavors and seamlessly created three beautiful and delicious drinks. It…

Friday Finds on Mackinaw Road: A Christmas Table, Homemade Butter, and A Christmas Dinner Menu
Good morning! Hope you all had a great week!! I was hustling to get all of the presents wrapped before I have too much “help” during the school break. I set our Christmas Table, even though we won’t be hosting this year (despite my best attempts at mentioning that we don’t mind hosting either… I’m breezy). And, while I’m dreaming of hosting Christmas, let me just share my pretend menu and some real recipes, too 🙂

What to do in San Francisco in 48 Hours
Hi and Welcome (back) to Mackinaw Road! I recently was able to tag along with my husband to San Francisco. I had two days to wander around solo (although, honestly, what I did could be condensed into one day) and then we were fortunate enough to head out to Sausalito and Sonoma. San Francisco: Much of the sightseeing within the city was done solo… Here is what I did… Walk around the Ferry Building– there are several restaurants, coffee shops, and cute stores to browse. Head up to Nob Hill. This is a workout in and of itself. From there I was able to see Coit Tower. (There are also…

What to do in Asheville, North Carolina (in 24 hours)
This post contains affiliate links, meaning that if you click and purchase, I may receive some compensation… Thank you! Lovely mountain scapes, America’s largest private home, and a cafe with over 500 games… This is the Asheville we quickly grew to love. I have had my eye on Asheville for about two years and was so excited to finally be able to force my family to visit as part of our road trip to Hilton Head. It’s one of those situations where you hold your breath and cross your fingers that your family is going to love it as much as you already do in your head. And guess what?!?…

What to do in San Antonio, Texas
Waking one early March morning to admire yet another stunning Michigan snowfall , we readily hopped a plane that afternoon to sunny San Antonio. San Antonio is a relaxing sort of town in which you can stroll the River Walk, enjoy some excellent food, and just pop over to the Alamo for a quick (or not so quick) history lesson. Here are some of the highlights:
