One Room Challenge | White Kitchen Nook | Updates
Hi! Guess what?! There are actually 8 weeks of the One Room Challenge this year! Which had me thinking that we should probably just paint the adjacent living room white. (It is actually all one room with no divider between the nook and the living room, so we’d still be following the ONE room part of the challenge.) R gave a very definitive NO to that idea. Baby steps. However, that didn’t stop my eyes from drifting into that part of the room. There are a few updates that won’t really have the WOW factor of painting it all white but that will definitely up this room’s game a bit.

White Kitchen Nook | ORC 2 | Mackinaw Road
Hi there! Well… we have a White Kitchen Nook! And I could not be happier with it!!! This is the moment where I say, “Why didn’t we do this 3 years ago?!?” R keeps saying, “It is so much brighter in here!” This isn’t usually a compliment from my lover of all decor that is dark and moody, but it really seems like he is impressed! Let’s back up…

ORC Kitchen Nook Refresh | Week 1 | Priming & The Plan
Hi Everyone! I’m so excited that you’re here and am also thrilled to begin another One Room Challenge (ORC)! This spring, I am going to be refreshing our kitchen nook at the Beach Cabin. It isn’t exactly a kitchen nook but it is by the kitchen, so close enough!

Mackinaw Road Monday: Mood Boards & Headboards
Hi all! Apparently, there is a thing call Mood Board Monday. And, since we’re all hunkering down, I thought it would be fun to jump on that bandwagon. Planning and dreaming sound like a great escape. And, really, it goes so well with all of the alliteration already happening in the Monday title. I had signed up for the One Room Challenge this spring. Thankfully, it has been postponed until May. A bonus is that it gave me time to really consider my choices. You know, since I haven’t waffled enough over the past year regarding the Beach Cabin.

Tips for an Under $25 Grout Refresh
Hi there! A couple of weekends ago, I attempted what seemed would be a “quick DIY” (do those even exist?!?) in our kids’ bathroom. I had purchased some grout refresh six months ago with every intention to complete this project before Christmas. But Christmas came and went… as did Valentine’s Day … and St. Patrick’s Day… Anyway, I finally got started toward the end of March. And I completely made it soooo much more difficult than it needed to be. A LOT of this was do to user error/not reading the directions carefully, but I thought I’d share what I learned anyway.

Simple Spring Kitchen for Staying Home
Hi there! I hope that your week is going well!! We were supposed to be headed out on Spring Break this week, but are staying home and hoping to help to flatten the curve. This simple spring kitchen makes me so content to stay put. That and the fact that I get a break from playing homeschool teacher. Yay!!!

Coastal Boy Bedroom
Well… it happened. Again. I changed our son’s bedroom for maybe the 3rd time since he has been in twin beds. You can check out the original room here. And the dino version here. This time the goal was to create a Coastal Boy Bedroom. Our trip to California was so amazing and a place that just defines our family’s love of the coast, be it during Michigan summers and/or California winters. How dreamy would that combo be?!? But, back to that Coastal Boy Bedroom.

Laguna Beach/Dana Point: Where to Stay, Where to Eat and What to Do
Good morning! We recently returned from a quick trip to Laguna Beach, California. It was just what our family needed, and we are already scheming for ways to save so we can make this a February tradition. My husband and I visited a few years ago and I immediately fell in love. I was so excited to bring our kids this time! Our daughter, who really doesn’t like to venture too far from our neighborhood for dinner quietly told me she would be willing to move to California. I wish! Also, just a brief disclaimer. Many of our activities were in Dana Point, which is just down the beach from…

Colonial Home Kitchen: Kitchen Chairs
Kitchen Chairs Hi there! It has been so sunny this week that I’m already thinking about the summer at the Beach Cabin. The water is currently shut off there to avoid pipes freezing, etc. So, I thought I’d share how I incorporated a little beachy feel into our colonial home’s kitchen to get us through winter and back to those dreamy summer days. Since it is very difficult for me to stick to one topic even though the space is tiny, I also included a sweet project that my mom did with the kids and a round up of our top dream kitchen chair contenders as well as a quick…
