Mackinaw Road Monday: 5 Card Games for Kids
Hi again! It’s been awhile since we’ve had a Mackinaw Road Monday, so I thought another one was due… even though it isn’t Monday… again. One of the silver linings of being quarantined has been the opportunity for more family game nights. We also use the games as breaks during the day or as incentives for finishing online school tasks. Five games have quickly become our family favorites. (Okay, one may not be as loved by the parents as the kids. More on that in a bit.) Keep reading for our top card games for kids.

White Kitchen Nook | ORC 2 | Mackinaw Road
Hi there! Well… we have a White Kitchen Nook! And I could not be happier with it!!! This is the moment where I say, “Why didn’t we do this 3 years ago?!?” R keeps saying, “It is so much brighter in here!” This isn’t usually a compliment from my lover of all decor that is dark and moody, but it really seems like he is impressed! Let’s back up…

A DIY Raised Garden Bed
Hi there! Last Sunday was so so nice that we decided to DIY a raised garden bed. It went the way almost all of my DIYs do. I looked on Pinterest, found a tutorial that looked semi-easy and then passed it along to my husband. I did get out there and “help” here and there. (And I also did sand and re-stain several pieces of patio furniture, so I wasn’t sitting around- haha!) Anyway, even with the tutorial, we made adjustments and made it our own. We are very proud of ourselves and happy with how it turned out. Clearly, we are not experts, this is just a play-by-play of…

Mackinaw Road Monday: Mother’s Day Gift Guide
Hi there! Well… April is almost over. It only felt like it lasted 3 years- lol! Oh, and it’s not Monday. But, as has become my mantra lately… close enough. I don’t have 3 ingredients for this dish? Close enough. We have been slowly getting in the swing of things. We love a good birthday parade. Online school is still challenging but fine. The sun came back- yay! Our Stay at Home order was extended until May 15 in Michigan, so we will have to get creative with wishing our moms a Happy Mother’s Day, but I am so grateful that I get to be with my kids on the…

Mackinaw Road Mondays: 5 At Home Art Projects
Hello there! I hope this finds you well and hanging in there. We had our first week of forward online learning. There were A LOT of ups and downs and all of the emotions. The teachers are simply amazing and have taken on the role of on-line teachers/parent support therapists in stride! We also try to do a little extracurricular activity daily. Art is something that we all enjoying doing and (most of time) has a relaxing effect on us. Here are 5 At Home Art Projects that we have tried.

Mackinaw Road Monday: Mood Boards & Headboards
Hi all! Apparently, there is a thing call Mood Board Monday. And, since we’re all hunkering down, I thought it would be fun to jump on that bandwagon. Planning and dreaming sound like a great escape. And, really, it goes so well with all of the alliteration already happening in the Monday title. I had signed up for the One Room Challenge this spring. Thankfully, it has been postponed until May. A bonus is that it gave me time to really consider my choices. You know, since I haven’t waffled enough over the past year regarding the Beach Cabin.

Tips for an Under $25 Grout Refresh
Hi there! A couple of weekends ago, I attempted what seemed would be a “quick DIY” (do those even exist?!?) in our kids’ bathroom. I had purchased some grout refresh six months ago with every intention to complete this project before Christmas. But Christmas came and went… as did Valentine’s Day … and St. Patrick’s Day… Anyway, I finally got started toward the end of March. And I completely made it soooo much more difficult than it needed to be. A LOT of this was do to user error/not reading the directions carefully, but I thought I’d share what I learned anyway.
