From the beautiful blues and greens of the water to the quaint towns, Northern Michigan is a must see. What to do in Asheville, North Carolina (in 24 hours)
This post contains affiliate links, meaning that if you click and purchase, I may receive some compensation… Thank you! Lovely mountain scapes, America’s largest private home, and a cafe with over 500 games… This is the Asheville we quickly grew to love. I have had my eye on Asheville for about two years and was so excited to finally be able to force my family to visit as part of our road trip to Hilton Head. It’s one of those situations where you hold your breath and cross your fingers that your family is going to love it as much as you already do in your head. And guess what?!?…

What to do in Savannah, Georgia (in 3 hours)
This post contains affiliate links, meaning that if you click and purchase, I may receive some compensation. Savannah, Georgia. It’s been on the list of places to visit for awhile now. We haven’t heard a bad review. And, yet, we didn’t quite know what to expect. During a recent family vacation to Hilton Head Island in South Carolina, my husband and I were able to drive the 45 minutes or so to Savannah, Georgia, for dinner and a walk. We were quite satisfied with all that we saw, but the 3 hours definitely left us craving a return visit in the near future.

Friday Finds on Mackinaw Road: Venmo, Viceroy Hotels, and a Cabin Update
Hi Everyone! Happy Spring (a little late). Here are some of the Friday Finds I’m loving this week. [This post contains affiliate links, meaning that if you click and purchase, I may receive some compensation. Thank you!] Venmo– To say I was hesitant to use this app would be an understatement. I hemmed and hawed but finally gave in because we went in on a parent gift with my husband’s sisters and they both use it and, well, it was pretty darn convenient. Then, I started asking babysitters if they used it… and most did! Again, it was pure convenience to text when we were five minutes away and then…

How to Prepare for Leaving Your Children
Does anyone else have children who become super well-behaved and cute right before you leave for a trip? Mine do! We love to travel with our kids but sometimes the timing with school and activities doesn’t allow for them to tag along. And, honestly, while we absolutely love to travel with our children, there are a lot of positives that come from leaving them home every once and while. These are the Top 5 for us: #1 We get sleep! #2 We get to have conversations that don’t strictly involve the day to day business of family life. #3 The grandparents have unlimited access to the grandchildren. #4 We miss…

What to do in San Antonio, Texas
Waking one early March morning to admire yet another stunning Michigan snowfall , we readily hopped a plane that afternoon to sunny San Antonio. San Antonio is a relaxing sort of town in which you can stroll the River Walk, enjoy some excellent food, and just pop over to the Alamo for a quick (or not so quick) history lesson. Here are some of the highlights:

Friday Finds on Mackinaw Road: San Antonio, a Free Packing Printable, Butterflies, and Salamander Green
Happy Friday! Last week at this time we were in warm and sunny San Antonio, Texas. Did you know that San Antonio is celebrating its 300th birthday this year?! This is the second city we’ve visited in the last 6 months that is celebrating 300. Maybe in addition to visiting as many Frank Lloyd Wright homes as possible (see this post if you missed it), I’ll also visit as many cities turning 300 in this coming year! More on San Antonio next week, including where to eat and what to do.

Travel Clothes for Kids: Spring Break Edition
Is anyone else mentally packing your bags and heading south? While my travel wardrobe remains quite unchanged, my kids have grown two feet and have to/get to replace their clothing. Here are a few of our favorites for spring travel with our kids:
