How to Prepare for Leaving Your Children
Does anyone else have children who become super well-behaved and cute right before you leave for a trip? Mine do! We love to travel with our kids but sometimes the timing with school and activities doesn’t allow for them to tag along. And, honestly, while we absolutely love to travel with our children, there are a lot of positives that come from leaving them home every once and while. These are the Top 5 for us: #1 We get sleep! #2 We get to have conversations that don’t strictly involve the day to day business of family life. #3 The grandparents have unlimited access to the grandchildren. #4 We miss…

What to do in San Antonio, Texas
Waking one early March morning to admire yet another stunning Michigan snowfall , we readily hopped a plane that afternoon to sunny San Antonio. San Antonio is a relaxing sort of town in which you can stroll the River Walk, enjoy some excellent food, and just pop over to the Alamo for a quick (or not so quick) history lesson. Here are some of the highlights:

Friday Finds on Mackinaw Road: San Antonio, a Free Packing Printable, Butterflies, and Salamander Green
Happy Friday! Last week at this time we were in warm and sunny San Antonio, Texas. Did you know that San Antonio is celebrating its 300th birthday this year?! This is the second city we’ve visited in the last 6 months that is celebrating 300. Maybe in addition to visiting as many Frank Lloyd Wright homes as possible (see this post if you missed it), I’ll also visit as many cities turning 300 in this coming year! More on San Antonio next week, including where to eat and what to do.

Travel Clothes for Kids: Spring Break Edition
Is anyone else mentally packing your bags and heading south? While my travel wardrobe remains quite unchanged, my kids have grown two feet and have to/get to replace their clothing. Here are a few of our favorites for spring travel with our kids:

Friday Finds on Mackinaw Road: Frank Lloyd Wright tours, AirZoo, and a Beach Cabin update
Hello and Happy Monday! Once again, I missed Friday, so this is coming a few days late. We had a school play and soccer followed by some sick kiddos at home, but here’s hoping that everyone is on the up-and-up now. I hope that you all had a relaxing weekend and are ready for a productive week that will hopefully fly by! Spring is in the air, which means we’re ready to get out of the house~ (at least I am! The 5 year old wanted to play dinosaurs in the basement on a 60 degree day… and the dinosaurs can’t even talk… just growl). While I did convince him…

Island Travel Interviews- Cambodian Islands, Take 1 (Koh Rong Samleom)
Before we begin this week’s Island Travel Interview series on Koh Rong Samleom), here is a bit more information about the Honeymoon Backpackers, taken from their bio: Mon and Dyl are newly wed Aussies, who quit their jobs and gave away everything they own, to travel the world on their endless honeymoon which began in May 2016. They’ve since witnessed the northern lights in Canada, surfed with dolphins in Australia, swam with whale sharks in the Philippines, bathed with elephants in Thailand, sand boarded down a volcano in Nicaragua, bungee jumped 147m in Costa Rica, conquered the world’s highest tandem skydive in America, scuba-dived with turtles in The Caribbean, snowboarded…

Friday Finds on Mackinaw Road: Little Passports, Mahabis Slippers and Shiplap
Happy Friday! Once again this week has flown by. Even though this winter has been snowy in Michigan, it seems like we’ve seen the sun more often, which is a welcome surprise. Nonetheless, it is always so nice to have a “look forward to” in order to make it through February. We are headed to San Antonio, my first time to Texas, and I’m looking for all of your suggestions! I am also wondering if I should stay in San Antonio for the 4 days or recruit someone to drive the three hours to The Silos. What do you think?

What to Do When a Furry Family Member Dies Unexpectedly
It’s taken a long time to be able to write this post, vacillating between whether it was too personal, just too difficult to write, etc. But, in the end, I guess I’m just hoping that it maybe helps someone else who lost their furry family member while traveling or at home… Doesn’t really matter, it’s super painful no matter how you lose them. Here it goes…
