Island Travel Interviews- Caribbean Islands, Take 8 (Aruba)
**This post contains affiliate links, meaning that if you click and purchase, I may receive some compensation. Thank you! Aruba. How I love Aruba. It’s been awhile since we’ve been but I’m quite certain I would still love Aruba. Just off the coast of Venezuela, this Dutch Island had the warmest of breezes and seas when we visited. I’m excited to compare experiences as Megan from Some Places I Am Moderately Excited About shares a more current view of the A of the ABC Islands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao). Name and Blog Name/URL I’m Megan, of Some Places I Am Moderately Excited About! (www.moderatelyexcited.com) I curate snarky and educational city guides…

Friday Finds on Mackinaw Road: Travel Gifts, Ice Cream, a Book, and a Sweater
Happy Friday, Everyone! It’s January and we’re grounded, so the “Finds” are a bit limited, but here we go… [This post contains affiliate links, meaning that if you click and purchase, I may receive some compensation. Thank you!] Naturally, we are dreaming of sunny skies and crystal clear water as we wait for the “January thaw” that will get us to a balmy 43 degrees on Saturday. Travelogue (Conde Nast’s podcast) was a great listen this week as I gazed through the window at the white snow. They discussed the Caribbean as a 2018 destination. The podcasters started from the northern-most island and headed south, one island at a time (no,…

Midwest Christmas Tour
Snow days and travel difficulties signal that winter has officially settled into the Midwest. People working on the Beach Cabin had trouble getting up the hill and even had to shovel their way in. (But just looks at this beautiful progress!)

Philipsburg, Montana, Philipsburg Blue, and How They are Related
My brother has always been the adventurous one- in fact, at one point, he accused me (the definite homebody) for not preparing our parents at all for what was to come. So, it shouldn’t have been a surprised when he headed west to Montana after college. Just his packed car, his dog, Georgie, and hit the open road. Now that was brave in my book. He quickly settled into life in the small town of Philipsburg, working during the week and camping and fishing on the weekends. Aside from the somewhat regular June text that it was snowing, he seemed to enjoy being out west. I tagged along with my…

Happy Friday (again)! I have to admit that I really do look forward to these Friday Finds on Mackinaw Road days. I hope you do too! Christmas is right around the corner and I’m already nervous I am going to forget someone’s gift. Thanksgiving: At Home and Abroad
*This post may contain affiliate links. It’s that time of year– let the holiday family, fun, cooking, and traveling begin! I always look forward to the holidays for several reasons, one of which is time spent with family. Another is time spent with friends. Every holiday break, my college girlfriends and I meet for brunch to catch up. It is particularly special as it is one of the few times of the year that we are able to see a friend who grew up in Michigan and is currently living in England with her husband and children. She also spent three years in Norway. She and her family typically come…
