Cottage Style IKEA Decor
Hi there! Today I’m talking about Cottage Style IKEA Decor. More specifically, possible ideas for how to decorate a cottage using IKEA in a strategic way. Believe it or not, this Scandinavian style can fairly effortlessly be incorporated into cottage decor. We really didn’t mean to go overboard with our IKEA purchases and didn’t even do it all at once. And yet, almost every room has something from IKEA in it! I don’t think that you’d look into the rooms and think IKEA immediately. Maybe you would. For whatever reason, we don’t, though. Regardless, I think I’ll just take you on a little tour of our Beach Cabin and the…

Beach Cabin Screened in Porch: ORC, Week 6
The Beach Cabin Screened In Porch is finished! Sort of. I could blame it on the rain. Or a busy spring. Or training for a 25k. I could… Anyway, the porch is mostly finished. I’d love to add a new wall light. It has been purchased but needs to be installed. I also had grand plans of adding some curtains out there. We’ll see. The sailing line plans are also on a brief hold. (You can read all about them in last week’s post here.) In fact, if you are new here and want to catch up on the topsy turvy Beach Cabin Screened In Porch plans, you can click on…

Beach Cabin Porch, ORC Week 5
Hi there! It has been raining almost all week (and even snowed last Saturday!) which made painting the Beach Cabin Porch difficult to say the least. The rain finally cleared on Friday and our family is spending the weekend enjoying the nice spring weather. I may have even asked/begged for a little help getting the porch ready.

How to Update a Porch in 10 Steps, A Beach Cabin Update (ORC Week 3)
Why am I always surprised when it snows in April? It seems like it always snows in April in Michigan. So, I’m just going to use the snow as my excuse for minimal progress on the Beach Cabin Porch. As such, a good old list is in order to get me organized and motivated. Keep reading for my plan on How to Update a Porch in 10 Steps.

Beach Cabin Kitchen Renovation
Well… it’s January. Last year at this time, we were in the thick of the Beach Cabin Kitchen Renovation. Despite my best intentions, I didn’t really document anything except for some photos along the way, but here is the process as I recall it.

ORC Week 5: The Beach Cabin Sleeper Attic- DIY Roman Shades
Hi there! I can’t believe it’s already Week 5 of this challenge. It really great to see everyone’s projects for the One Room Challenge coming together! Check them out here. This week, I set out to DIY Roman Shades for the Sleeper Attic. Last summer, we didn’t have any window covering, so I thought not only would some roman shades add a little design on the far wall but they would also add a bit of privacy. I set out to follow some DIY No Sew directions using blinds (because I don’t own a sewing machine and barely own needles and thread. I went to the store, bought the least expensive…

There have been a few times throughout this challenge that I’ve wanted to stop, so it’s been nice to have such a supportive group to hold me accountable to finish it up. If you missed some of the fun things that happened last week, you can check…

How to “Tile” A Fireplace with Wall Stencils and a GIVEAWAY!
Good morning All! Since it is officially after Labor Day, we got to work (actually on Labor Day) sprucing up the living room, specifically the fireplace. I was so happy with how our last project using Cutting Edge Stencils turned out that I decided to give a new stencil a try to update our fireplace. (If you missed the Laundry Room Makeover, check out the details of the stenciled flooring here and the entire “after” here.)
